## Full Meaning of BODMAS

BODMAS is an acronym and each letter stands for a mathematical operation.

B — Brackets

O — Order

D — Division

M — Multiplication

S — Subtraction

## BODMAS Rule With Examples

### 1. B — Brackets

BODMAS rule says that if the Maths question contain brackets, you must solve to remove the brackets before anything else.

EXAMPLE:

10 × (2 + 6)

= 10 × 8

= 80

### 2. Order

BODMAS rule says that if there are no brackets, or after clearing them, you can go ahead to clear the power or root before anything else.

EXAMPLE:

10 + 3²

= 10 + 9

= 19

### 3. Division

BODMAS rule says that if there are no brackets and order, or after clearing them, you can go ahead to divide before anything else.

EXAMPLE:

10 – 8 ÷ 2

= 10 – 4

= 6

### 4. Multiplication

BODMAS rule says that if there are no brackets, order and division, or after clearing them, you can go ahead to multiply before anything else.

EXAMPLE:

6 + 3 × 2

= 6 + 6

= 12

BODMAS rule says that if there are no brackets, order, division and multiplication, or after clearing them, you can go ahead to add before anything else.

EXAMPLE:

6 – 3 + 2

= 6 – 5

= 1

### 6. Subtraction

BODMAS says that you can go ahead to subtract after solving everything else.
